Default Hi from a new fun finder owner

Hi everyone,

We just bought our first travel trailer, a used 2009 Fun Finder X 189 FDS.

We are really looking forward to testing it this Summer!

Welcome,

I purchased my first travel trailer, specifically a Toy Hauler, in 2012.

Lots of good info on this forum. Questions, just ask.

We have had our 2007 160X for a couple of years, No real problems with it. Tows just fine with our 2014 Sorento. For us and dog enough room. Plus we can go pretty much anywhere we want. No site space limitations. Great step up for our coleman popup.

Hi michellep,

Yes, it's our first RV. Funny story, we weren't really planning on buying a travel trailer until we bought our new SUV about two months ago!

We wanted to rent a pop-up for part of the summer, but with everything factored in, renting a trailer (a tent trailer with no bathroom!) would cost almost 30% of buying a real travel trailer!

We're not sure where we will go, but we are thinking at 2 or 3 long weekends and one 7 day trip.

A bit off topic but how do you like your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Just rolled over 1,000 miles on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk 4x4, 3.2 L V-6 and LOVE IT!!

Our previous 2014 Ram 1500 4x2 had the same V-6 Pentastar that you have and it was an awesome engine. It pulled our previous 3,500 lb trailer over 8,200 miles last summer and got 14.3 mpg for the entire distance ( about 300 miles of that was non-towing).

Everyone I've met camping from Quebec has been in an Alto

We really like it. We were hesitating between an Outback (limited), a Cherokee (limited with the v6) and the Grand Cherokee (laredo with the V6). We finally chose the Grand Cherokee and so far so good.

Altos are nice little products, so are Prolite trailers (also made in Quebec). However, neither had the amenities we were looking for.

We started our TT experience with a T@B and so naturally found the Alto an intriguing design. We also came to discover that the uniqueness and novelty of the "teardrop" style comes with a premium price. We soon discovered that we could get twice the trailer for just a small amount of additional money. When we got our second trailer (the Cobblestone), I took everything that was in the T@B and put it in the new trailer. I still had 5 empty storage areas. Then we had the same experience when we got the Fun Finder and transfered our gear to it The 214 WSD is perfect for us and we'll be in it for more than 6 months this year

We made our first trip about a week ago and loved it.

Had a few minor technical problems (see my other thread), but we're already planning two other weekend trips and one 10 day long trip (adventure!) before Fall.

We also found that the Grand Cherokee was a bit sluggish. Even though it's a very good vehicle and is able able to pull our FF hands down, I found it a bit sluggish with the V6.

Went to the GM dealer and got a good deal on a 2015 Sierra SLE. Got the 4x4 double cab with a 5.3l V8 and a 6.5 ft bed. I added the SLE preferred package, towing equipment package and Z71 suspension. I didn't get the trailer max nor the 6.2l since that would have been overkill and the truck can easily haul over 9000 lbs as it's equipped.

With that truck you'll barely notice you're pulling a trialer.
