Default New Fun FINDER OWNER IN Oregon

Hello! Just bought a 2009 189fbs here in Oregon. Very hard to find them locally. It is in great shape except for the mattress, which we just replaced with a Sertapedic 9”. So glad it takes a full size queen! One question- we saw a 2008 189fbs online that the owner said was 8’2” in height and weighed 3012 lbs while ours is 8’9” tall and specs say 3368 lbs. What changed from 2008 to 2009? Will probably have more questions in the future!!

Welcome to the club! Where in Oregon are you located? Is this your first RV? If so, be sure to ask lots of questions!

Profdant 139/ thanks for the welcome! I live in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Bought the unit in Grants Pass off a consignment lot. I think I’m the third owner. I had a Comfort 16 30-35 years ago and a Rexhall 22 class A motor home about 10 years ago. Access to the motor was a nightmare! I think the trailer will be better. I bought a Nissan Frontier about 6 months ago and it towed it home over the Cascades with no problem. Looking forward to camping next spring!

Kfalls, you may not even have to wait for spring -- those units are pretty well insulated!! Thick foam in the walls and ceiling, fiberglass batting underneath. They say Bend is nice this time of year . . . .

Do you have a weight distribution hitch or a sway bar? With a short wheelbase on the Frontier, you will need one or the other to avoid sway. We had very good luck towing for several years with a Pathfinder, with a similar chassis to the Frontier. (The new Pathfinders are no longer on a truck chassis -- we now have a Tacoma.)

Wow, Klamath Falls -- you are smack dab in the middle of the greatest camping on Earth. Easy drives to Crater Lake, Lassen, the Cascades, Mt. Hood, the coast, the desert -- unlimited.

No, I don’t have a WFB or sway bar. I thought with the dual axles on the trailer I wouldn’t need one. Had no problem towing it home, but I didn’t exceed 60 mph, nor will I in the future. Also the trailer has over 400 lbs of tongue weight which is about 13% of total weight.

df1210- How long have you had your 2009 189fbs? Or is yours an 189fbr? Do you know why the 2009 fbs is 7” taller and 300lbs heavier than the 2007-08 units? Also, do you use sway control when towing your trailer?
