Default Ac not working can I get on top of the roof of my t139?

My ac is not working and I would like to climb up on my camper roof to check it. Will a t139 hold the weight or should I use planks? Has anyone had luck with.oiling the motor? How do I oil it? I made need it replaced any suggestions in Dallas texas?

The roof will support you, but of course you need to be careful you don't tear the roof covering. I use a sheet of cardboard.
You need to give us some more detail on the problem your having with the AC. Kind of hard to comment without knowing what the specific issue is.

It sounds like it wants to run but won"t. I only get a humming noise. I went online and found out I should have oiled it? Well if that would work to get it running that would be great, but I am seeing on line it is just better to replace them instead of replacing the fan motor. It's 14 years old now. I was going to try to take the shroud off and see what I can find. I may just take it to a shop. but they are so expensive...

Might see if you can remove the cover from the inside (power off!!!). See if you can reach up and turn the blower fan (squirrel cage). Might be locked, might spin. Good place to start.

If the interior fan check doesn't work - check the capacitor

It would not hurt to use a sheet of thin plywood on top while you are up there -- that spreads the weight even more than cardboard would.

Let us know what happens with your air conditioner! Good luck.

Just a quick response that this was the exact problem that I found on our previous trailer which was about 10 years old. The AC compressor motor and fan would hum but not run. When I opened the cover I found that the capacitor had leaked the oil-substance. After replacement it worked perfectly. As an engineer, all capacitors are not created equal. You must be careful in selecting the exact same capacitance but for safety and longevity I suggest using a capacitor with a higher voltage rating.

In addition to what has been stated, depending on how you are powering your AC, you may not have enough amps to start the compressor. Minimum is to have it plugged into a 20 amp service, but better to have it plugged into 30 amps.

And a heard-start capacitor kit on the AC will help if the voltage is a little low. I have seen ~100VAC in some RV parks.

Hard Start kits are easier on generators as well. They help to mediate the voltage drop to other fixtures.
