Default Antenna

I am having issues getting our new TV to pick up any channel signals. Antenna is raised, the cable cord on antenna is plugged in, the antenna cord inside is plugged int the back of tv, and the power cord is plugged with red light is on and plugged in. It will play DVD's. But just not picking up signals from multiple locations. Any suggestions?

What camper and antenna do you have?

If the factory installed Jensen, I found mine pretty much useless and replaced it with a King Jack antenna. Great reception now with this one:

Got it a few years ago, on sale about $80 w/shipping but don't recall where purchased at over the net.

Is your TV digital? Did you scan for channels? Did you turn your antenna towards the broadcast antennas? Are you in range of any TV stations? Find out here. https://www.channelmaster.com/

Also, when you say "red light is on", do you mean on your TV itself, or on the wall by the 12 volt outlet? That's the signal power booster that needs to be turned on. Then scan, and if you're in an area with any stations, you should pick up something.

On the wall by the 12 volt outlet, That's the signal power booster that needs to be turned on. Yes it is on. Cannot control antenna direction. Only up/down.

Here are a couple of other things you can check:

1. Did you change the TV setting to external antenna instead of cable, before you scanned for stations?

2. Did the previous TV you had in the trailer work before you switched to the new TV? If so, that isolates the problem to your new TV setup.

3. If the previous TV never worked, than check all of the antenna coaxial connectors. You may have a bad one.

4. Pull the amplifier from the wall and make sure that the antenna coaxial is going into the correct terminal of the amplifier. There is a terminal for antenna and one for cable.

5. I don't know this for sure, but perhaps your antenna and amplifier are specific to analog signals since it was manufactured in 2003. Its unlikely, but you never know. Might be worth it to install a new antenna and coaxial cable, and perhaps a new amplifier.

Good luck

Don't know what model u have but my unit has the antenna up/down crank in the cabinet above the sink. When I bought mine used the antenna would raise and lower but the directional adjuster which u have to push up to engage did not rotate the antenna. NOTE..there is a point to point home position. After climbing up on roof I found PO got carried away with sealer which kept antenna from rotating. Make sure u understand the round antenna rotator which is sort of part of the crank up/down antenna system. Also when u are ready to lower antenna be sure it is in the "home" position.

The previous owner of ours had driven under something with the antenna up and had never replaced it. We got a King antenna also and have always had trouble picking up stations. One problem with ours, IMO, is that the articulating arm on the tv presses against the cables when the tv is strapped into place while traveling. I think over time, it has pinched the wiring.

Our antenna control is in the cabinet over the dinette. Why they put it inside a cabinet, I'll never understand. To raise and lower, we turn the crank handle. To rotate the antenna, we pull down on the big ring around the outside of the crank. Once it is pulled down, we can turn it and the antenna.

Here is another link where you can put in your zip or location and it shows lines to your tv transmitters so you know what direction to turn your antenna.

Our antenna crank is in a cabinet over the kitchen table. When we bout the RV the crank was already broken. I have replaced the crank, so I can rotate the crank to raise and lower the antenna. I did not realize that you can also rotate the antenna after it was raised. I am also not able to determine the home position, I am just eyeballing the location for raising and lowering.

There should be an arrow on the inner ring that lines up with a notch on the outer ring to indicate the home position. It's been a while since I've used it so I might be a bit of in the description, like maybe it's the other way around.
