Default Cant turn off outside speakers

I have a Fun Finder XT276 and I can't seem to stop sound from coming out of the outside speakers. The switch on the inside near the radio just seems to turn the big bass speaker on or off.

I tried every combination of fade and balance and sound still comes out of the outside speakers.

Does anyone here know any other way I may be overlooking?

Thanks

Nick

Which stereo do you have? If its a Jensen there should be 3 buttons labeled A, B & C to switch the sets of speakers on or off. If those don't work then they could be miswired.

As LJAZ posted above.

One position is for inside speakers on.

One position is for outside speakers on.

Once position is for both inside and outside speakers on.

I tested the switch once, set the switch for inside speakers and that is all I have ever used so don't recall if it's A, B or C.

I do have a Jensen. The A/B/C switches are supposed to be on the radio itself, or a separate switch?

The switch panel will be on the left end of the cabinet your radio is in.

Doubled checked and mine is marked A & B .. only two positions. A is for inside speakers.

I do have a switch on the left side of the radio cabinet, but its not labeled and all it seems to do is turn on or off the sub woofer.

I'm confused!

In my XT276, on the left end of the cabinet by the entrance to the bathroom is a square panel with a 'dial type' switch and above it is marked A & B. Next to that in the same panel is a rocker switch under the words 'subwoofer'

And below that is a thing or holder for an maybe an I-pod or ??

If you 2014 is different .......... the factory must have made a change.

Perhaps you should call your dealer or Cruiser RV and ask them

Here's the link to Jensens website:

http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/products/stereos.html

If you can find your model you should be able to download a manual.

I guess for 2014 they got rid of the A/B switch.

I called the dealer and they told me to use the fade and balance, which I tried and does not completely stop the sound.

Guess I'll be taking it back to the dealer.

Default One other trick

If you unscrew the speaker and pull it down, you will see wires. You could clip the wire to that speaker! Stick on a wire nut and remount the speaker. We did this with our outside speaker, which we never use.

I would pull the radio out and look at the wiring. On my radio (Jensen AWM-965) the speakers were incorrectly connected from day 1 and connecting them properly solved my problem of all speakers ON all the time. It’s an easy check (4 screws).

I took it back to the dealer. They showed me that if you put the balance all the way to the left and fade all the way to the rear no sound comes out of the outside speakers. This, however also removes all the sound from the inside speakers except for one above the bed (as in also cant use the subwoofer). This is pretty crappy.

I'm just going to install a switch myself.

Balance should only control the volume level between the left and right stereo channels and the fade should only control the volume between the "front" & "rear" speakers. Inside and outside speakers should be on totally separate "channels". Usually labeled as A and B (and sometimes C if there's a third channel). Your stereo must have some way of switching between them. If not then it's likely not wired properly.

What model Jensen do you have?

Default Cant turn off outside speakers

Hello, If you look at the Jenson website it looks like there is not a switch to turn off the outside speakers on the unit. ( I could be wrong). As you suggested put a switch in. Remember it will need to switch on and off two of the speaker wires. One for each speaker.

From the wiring diagram in manual this unit is set up with a single channel of front and rear speakers. There isn't an A/B switch option. Not sure exactly how the factory wired it, but I'd guess that it was supposed to be wired with the front speakers as the inside and rear speakers as the outside. Then you could use the fader to turn the outside speakers off. That's kind of a cheesy way to do it though. And even then from your description it doesn't sound like that works correctly so it's probably wired wrong as well.

Installing the switch yourself is probably the only way to fix it correctly.

Default Figured it out for Jensen DV 2011

My son and I figured it our for our new 2014 Fun Finder Xtra 276.

Use Fade feature on stereo by pushing control dial to Fade. Turn dial:

Fade Rear all the way turned off outside speakers and kept on inside cabin and garage speakers.

Fade Front all the way turned off all inside speakers, cabin and garage, and left on outside speakers.

Yea. Hope this works for you.

Kathy
