Default central heater question

Our FF 160 roof air does not have the heat strip so the central unit is only heat avail. Being FM Texas....so what! Well we just got back fm trip to ND, WY, MT, and it got cold. Used a small space heater Mr. Thoughtful packed before we left. Never used cent unit n am curious how it works. Assume you just set thermo on the wall n bingo...heat. No pilot to light? Must light similar to water heater.

Well, it hasn't gotten cold up here in the north country yet. I believe only about 45 degrees and barely long sleeve shirt weather riding motorcycle.

It does get cold in the winter months ... late December, January and February .... like -20 to -30 F and wind chills to -60 F or more at times. And snows alot too.

I know it snows in Texas too as have seen 8' snow drifts near Amarillo TX but they melt in a few days. Not so here as have seen it snow in late October/early November and still snow drifts in tree claims mid April.

OH, the furnace operates by setting the thermostat at the desired temp and it kicks on and heats the camper so yes, similar to the water heater.

Hope you enjoyed your trip and stay dry down there.

As I figured. Hey, for us Texans, when it got down to the 40s in the Tetons.....that's COLD! 19 day trip, great dog hunt in ND, Yellowstone, Tetons, Snow Mrs n other great spots. FF had zero issues other than ran out of propane in Medicine Bow.....we are The Virginian fans.
