Default Fridge revisited....fridge fan

I'm sure many of you know about these little RV fridge fans that operate on 2 D cells. Since our fridges are absorption type units these fans help to distribute the cold air around the inside of the fridge to avoid warm spots. They also have a charcoal filter. This can be used when you have food in the fridge but no propane or electric running it. If your food is cold or frozen when you put it into a cooled down fridge it should be good for at least 5-6 hours before worrying about spoilage as long as you resist opening the door. As others have said, you can take an ice chest for things you want to get to before you arrive. We also pack s few of those blue freezable ice blocks in the fridge for extra cooling. They are flat and very packable. The fan costs about $12 on Amazon Prime.

You can also use micro computer fans for this purpose and rig it up to the the 12 volt power supply of the camper. May require drilling a hole to get power into the refrigerator, but good silicon should seal the hole.

Good idea for those who are handy, like you and others on here.

Default Caution

As always - a disclaimer and word to exercise caution. Had a friend drill a hole through a kegarator so he wouldn't have to put the CO2 bottle the fridge. Hit a cooling line and all freon or the equivalent coolant leaked out.
RV fridges are a bit different but expect the unexpected if you can't see through or in to a wall.
