Default Front End rockguard anyone?

Has anyone added a rockguard of any kind to the front of their TT?
Dealer tried to sell us an $800 Line X package which we declined.
Found some Rhino Product (Duplicolor) at Princess Auto for $40 CAN. Just wondering if other people have found it necessary and if so what have you used?

We haven't even picked up our TT yet but alreayd planning mods!
A guy on RV.net said he has driven 60,000 miles without any and has no damage. Is it even worth the effort if this is the case? I guess we'll have to see how our TV and TT work together...

My 2009 came with a front rock guard. It's was even advertised as standard in the brochure. It's a diamond plate metal piece that covers the bottom 18" or so of the front. Did they stop putting them on as standard in 2010? Or are they trying to sell you an even bigger one? I think the standard sized one works just fine if that helps.

nope.. don't waste your money.

What I've noticed is that resale value tends to drop alot by adding this linex to the front. Reason being, the buyer thinks that the trailer has lived it's life on gravel roads (ie.. shaken, dusty, etc.) or worse yet the buyer thinks the seller is hiding something (leaks) in the front cap.

I have put a lot of miles on my trailer and there's no evidence of damage on the front. I put a fresh coat of wax on it a couple times a year and It's good to go. If you are worried about rocks on the front, why not invest in some $10 mud flaps for the TV, or just slow down on the gravel.

LJAZ - they (2010 models) don't come with any rockguard on the front end. I guess that has been discontinued.

jb_bb - thanks for your input! Interesting point on the resale aspect.

As I thought, we'll see how it goes this year and re-assess based on conversations with people and performance of TV and TT together. There are short flaps on the back of the 4Runner already so I'm hoping we have no problems!

Total newbies to this business so I appreciate the comments
