Funfinder dinky bathroom fan - maintenacne
For the first time I am going to try to clean the disgusting teensy bathroom fan in my FF 18'9 2006
Any tips or advice? I see that there are screws on the inside ceiling to take the ring off of the screen perhaps, but am wondering about the little red button (off/on button?) and how that might pull out.
I seem to get an AWFUL lot of leaves and bugs through it resting on the screen. So much so that when I pick the FF up in Spring (it is stored inside in winter) there are always bits of stuff in the sink right below the fan.
any advice/tips would be appreciated.

That is very strange. I have no help on cleaning it, but I'm curious why you have so much junk in it. We have had our Fun Finder for 10 years and there is never junk in the bath fan. I wonder if you have a problem with the cover on top. Our cover really doesn't allow anything to fall in it. If you want I can climb up on top and take a picture.
Do you close it when you are not using it?

Okay, someone borrowed our ladder so I took the best picture I could standing on the step, holding my phone over my head LOL
this is what our fan looks like when it is open. You can see there is very little area for anything to get in. When it is closed that white cap pulls down tight to the top of the camper. Is yours different than this?

I put a MaxxAir cover over my bathroom hatch -- it now stays wide open all the time, while rain and bugs and leaves never come in. It is an easy and inexpensive project -- I really recommend it.

Thanks both of you. I will try and get a look at it to see what’s up. I thought it was strange too. .

Ours is like Liz's, the small (noisy) round Ventline/Vanair type that can be snapped shut.

So Dogs Rule, what's the verdict? Was there something wrong with the cover on your fan? Is it just a different design that allows a lot of debris?

I usually vacuum the screen. If you have to take it all apart it could take a while, but all parts are readily available from your local RV store or e-trailer.com The roof I just clean with some soap and water. If you haven't done so already you should take a look at the caulking and most likely it will need replacing.

I had to replace the gasket (in the top cap) in mine. Did from roof. Took apart and cleaned while up there. Not a big job. Never found directions for disassembly, but was pretty intuitive
