Default HELP!! Wiring info for LP/CO2 Detector

Help! Someone please tell me what wires go to what on an LP detector. I am replacing mine after 11 years it finally died, and I usually take before pictures so I know what I am doing. This looks so simple I thought surely I can remember which wire goes to which there's only two wires. But now I have no idea. I have a white and a green one coming from the camper and a red and a black one on the propane detector. Basically, what I need to know is on the camper which one is hot and which one is ground? I'm assuming the white one is hot but it did not work when I hooked that propane detector up that way. And rather than ruin my new $50 unit, I thought I'd double-check with someone who could just tell me.

Thanks you so much!

Liz

The green should be the hot wire. On a trailer white is typically the ground. If you have a multimeter you should verify it just to be sure. You never know what a prior owner may have done.
If you don't have a multimeter you really should invest in one. They can be had relatively cheaply on Amazon, or at places like Harbor Freight or even Sears for around $20 - $30.

Thank you! I believe you are correct! I do have a multimeter I just had no idea how to use it. I figured it out, and it says the green wire is hot. Which I'm used to 120 wiring and green wires are never hot LOL. I'm the original owner, and I made a lot of changes but I haven't touched the wiring... Yet LOL

Thanks again!
