Default Improving on tiny shower

People seem to like this solution. Also uses a standard curtain and rings. Has anyone made this mod to their shower?

Looks like a good thing. Won't work for our T139.

I have no clue why I can't post pictures or urls on here. Very frustrating.

Thank you for doing it. Our 189 has a tiny shower pan and a bad shower curtain set up. I THINK this will work. At least this one is more conventional. Is yours a wet bath!

HI Michigantraveler and the answer is YES.

I purchased the exact one shown from Amazon and installed it over a year ago.

We found the tub/shower combo in the XT 276 rather confining. The 'extended rod' moves the curtain further out from the tub and gives more room for showering. We love it. When not in use, fold it in over the tub and perfect place to hang towels for drying.

Note: I screwed/glued 1 1/2" thick wood blocks about 3" square to the walls on each side of the tub/shower and then mounted the bar to the wood blocks. I wanted a secure mounting platform, more so than permitted by the thin wall board.

Great! Yet another way to spend money on the trailer. Lol! But one that will definitely make a difference. That's a good idea about the blocks. How did you mount the blocks? Screws on each corner? Maybe Loctite adhesive under them?

First I measured the distance between the walls at the ends of the tub to be sure the bar would fit and have room to extend in/out like shown in the ad.

The blocks were mounted in about the same location as the factory installed shower curtain bar to cover the holes. The mounting plates on the ends of the new shower bar won't cover the old holes. I never had much luck with Loctite adhesive so used a good quality wood glue (Elmers Wood Glue I think) & screwed the wood blocks in place then mounted the new shower bar to the wood blocks. Caution ~ use screws long enough to go thru the wood block and into the wall but not so long as to go thru and out the other side! Oh, and before mounting the wood blocks, they were stained w/cherry stain so matched the medicine cabinet and towel cabinet in the bathroom. I used a piece of scrap hardwood (oak) in the shop to cut the wood blocks & drilled pilot holes on the 4 corners to prevent the wood from splitting when running the screws in.

It's an easy install plus gives more elbow room when showering.

Got it. But we don't have A tub, just a shower pan. I guess we would install it to the left of the sink cabinet and right of the toilet.

With just a shower pan, be sure to check for lengh of the shower curtain so it doesn't flair out beyond the shower pan.

Yes, we want it to fall inside the pan and will adjust the curtain rod to do that...probably with a standard 72" curtain.

Howdy Michigantraveler,
I saw you were looking for an exterior shower hose in your gallery. Your exterior box and this hose look like the box and hose I have for my FF; note the end, opposite the spray nozzle, is the male end of the Quick Disconnect in the box (QD). I found this one on Amazon.com and am not positive if this is the same diameter, but looks correct.

Good luck...

Thank you John. Yes, that's the one I put in my Amazon RV cart for purchasing later. I now have a cart with 15 needed items sitting there and an RV want list with more stuff that would be nice. Lol! This all adds up doesn't it? Have to separate the wants from the needs.

Did you install this in your 189? I just bought one for mine and haven't received it yet, but am wondering if I should have looked more closely at it before ordering LOL

No, it's in my Amazon cart still. But I'm thinking it should work fine with maybe some trimming. Lots of reviews from RV owners were positive.

I bought it, haven't gotten it yet, but the 189FBR is actually a corner shower and I'm wondering if it will work. Guess I could just wait and see lol

Well we have been researching this and think the longer version 5460 might be the one we need. Amazon does not list it but etrailer does. I sent them a question asking them if they thought it might work. Also, someone suggested making a cardboard mock-up.

Hey MichT and Liz,
I hope I didn't confuse anyone; this is the hose that attaches to my outside shower connector... Great for washing the hose and your gloves after draining the Grey & Black water tanks and I use it to rinse off the ATV before I load it back up... But, I guess it would work for an outside shower if one wasn't too modest...

I need to look at the hokey shower set up and see what hose fits that as it attaches to the sink faucet...

John, the hose for our outside shower is the blue coiled one with the fitting on the trailer end. That is in my Amazon cart waiting for me to get rich. Lol! We are discussing the movable shower rod for the shower in the camper.

MichT,
$40 sounds quite spendy to me and if you haven't already checked, you should be able to beat that price with a good search of the net... ebay and/or Craigs List might even have one...
