Default Multicolored LED Light Strip - 189FBS

Just installed my external LED Multi-Color strip lights:

If you shop at Camping World, expect to pay $150:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...trip-kit/71619

I picked mine up on eBay from a US seller shipped to my door for $16 (yes - sixteen dollars). IT came with everything that the Camping World came with except for the 12V power supply. I just tapped into the power for the porch light and I was good to go. My unit had the same 3M adhesive tape on the back and the same sealed system.

I cleaned the the area where I stuck the lights with a little rubbing alcohol before I installed it. I measured and cut the unit to length and stuck it in place. Just in case, I but a small bead of RV non-sag calk along the top to keep moisture from seeping behind the strip and releasing the tape.

I ran the IR receiver out of the bottom of the existing light fixture and the lead to the strip out the top:

The remote isn't all that great, but it works. Just in case, I programmed my universal learning remote for my A/V system for all the buttons I need to make it work. It has quite a few standard colors and several custom color settings, so there are a ton of lighting configurations.

So far so good. In white light mode (Red, Green, and Blue all on) the strip draws just over 1 amp at 12 volts. If you use a single color or a slight mix it draws about .3 - .5 amps.

That looks great. I did pretty much the same thing on mine.

Default LED Lighting

Looks great!! I see all of her new travel trailers have this option, I'm not sure how to wire power into the light but am going to look if that's an option.

Ran the wiring through where the canopy wiring goes through, then up into the front storage where my father in law helped me install an outlet and i just keep it plugged in there.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look at that possibility.

I have the exact same LED's. I tapped into the 12V light inside the storage compartment for power, ran the wire down the awning channel to the storage compartment. You really do need silicone sealant, the tape will only hold until it gets wet.

I have also given consideration to adding under awning light but question their 'life span'.

I installed a short (12"-14") length of blue leds to illuminate the steps into the camper. The first year they worked fine but when I checked them a week ago after getting my unit out from winter storage, only 3 or 4 of the leds light up.

I'll peel them off and that will be that.
