Default New Project: Illumination of entry steps.

Given that the entry steps are black and hard to see at night, I decided to added lighting to the steps. I have decided to use two LED amber marker lights that are mounted under the trailer and behind the steps. The aluminum frame that holds the lights, the switch modification and the yellow (+) wire added to run power down the wall and eventually out the bottom of the trailer are pictured below.

Well I finished the step illumination project. Its not perfect but it is better than no lights at all. I can illuminate the top step just fine, but the bottom step is in the shadow of the top step and get very little light. Fortunately, I can still make out the bottom step, just wish it was a little brighter. I could add a third marker light, but i don't think it will help much. Below are some pictures.

I did about the same thing except I used a 14" strip of 12 volt blue LED lights fastened to the bottom of the camper just above where the steps fold into.

They give plenty of light to see the steps and are not annoying to other campers.

Looks good twinster2, that should keep you from missing the steps...

Good info. I think I need to light our steps as well.
Something else I'd like is a 12v motion sensing light:

This is the last update, I promise. After using it with two lights for a few days, I decided to add a third marker light to the array. This provides a little more light to illuminate the steps. It's now finished and I can move on to other projects.
