Talking No more backaches! How I raised the LOW kitchen sink!

Hey all!

I LOVE my Fun Finder 189FBR but I hate the kitchen sink! I get a back ache just looking at it. Well, I figured out how to fix it - easy and pretty quick! and frugal, too! I thought I had to raise the entire counter, so for 10 years, I've lived with the horrible height (33") I'm 5'9 and hubby is 6'4" so it's not a comfortable height for us. Standard counter height is 36" That 3" makes a huge difference. i thought I had to raise the whole thing, and move the gas stove, etc. Well, the other day, it came to me that I could just RAISE THE SINK!! So that's what I did and it's an amazing difference!! Let me know what you think!

Plus . . . I gained some more storage! (who knew that was coming, right?)

Thanks, I'm glad turquoise is getting popular again it's much easier to find things in that color.

Did you add drawers in the front as well? Looks nice. And had to be way easier than lowering the floor, lol.

Hey there!

Yes there are two drawers in the front, one is large enough to hold all the serving utensils. Here is a link that shows a lot more pictures and exactly how I did it, although I know you can figure it out without all that. But there are better pictures maybe.. https://wackypup.blogspot.com/2017/0...ink-added.html

There's a little lip to keep the drawers from coming out during travel. Last night was the first test and they survived just fine although some other things I forgot to put away flew around. Haha

yes I still wish I could lower the floor then hubby wouldn't have to duck under the air conditioner.

My sister just got a fifth wheel with a ceiling fan , and we can't even stand up everywhere LOL

I just put a little piece of painters blue tape on the drawers to keep them in place while traveling.

That would assume that I would remember to do that every time we pulled out LOL. I try to make things so that I don't have to remember anything LOL because remembering isn't working for me these days

Well, I thought maybe it was to make the camper look bigger because it's so small, but my sister just got a fifth wheel that's huge (even has a ceiling fan), and her counters are the same 33" height!

I have gone camping with it, and I love it it is so much more convenient for cooking and cleaning up!

I noticed the drawers came open when traveling so installed these:

Now they stay shut.

Never had them I was going up and not when my kids were growing up either ~ taught them to stay out of where they didn't belong and they listened!

The clips work great in the camper to keep the drawers closed when traveling. Never had a problem with the doors popping open.

Our Fun Finder had a very expensive type latch that lasted about 10 years and then they both broke. I guess the plastic had a time limit LOL. I installed those child proof latches, but they were such a pain to stick our finger in to open the drawer every time we wanted to get something out, that I ended up just driving a 1/2" collared screw up from the bottom on the drawer rail. The screw ends up behind the little wheel when the drawer is closed. You merely have to lift the drawer a little bit as you pull it out and it works great. Drawers don't come open during travel.

You can just barely see it in this picture, which is actually a picture about some drawer organizers I built for which I have not written a post yet. The screws stick up, but they are not in an area where you could ever hit your finger on them.

I've wondered why the counter height is so low and why the windows are so low. Can't see out any of mine except when sitting. I'd much rather have a smaller upper cabinet and a good height base cabinet with its storage.

Yes I've looked at mine and wondered if I could just put a larger window over there. I do like the campers with the big Windows however I really need the storage so I'm happy. If I want to see, I just go outside LOL as my camper door says go play outside!
