Default Power Vent Fan Install Help

My 2009 18FBS has no ceiling vent opening in the main section only the bathroom. My wife wants me to install a powered vent fan (our old motorhome had one and we loved it). The problem is how do I determine where to cut the opening? I don't want to cut through a ceiling/roof support (rafter). I've tried a stub finder, no joy, strong magnet, no joy, so any suggests how I can determine where to cut the opening without cutting a roof support. P.S. contacted manufacturer who were nice but no help. Anyone have drawings?

In 2009 Funfinder used aluminum framing so a magnet and some stud finders won't work. There are some available designed to find metals including non-magnetic metals like this one:https://www.amazon.com/Zircon-Metall...0434f20c1b9114

Here's what I would do. I'm guessing you meant 189FBS. I would search for pictures and online ads that show location of a vent that matches your floorpan. Maybe someone in this forum can assist. I'm not totally familiar with the 189FBS (I have a 210UDS). I thought there is/was one over the bed? I've attached a screenshot I found on youtube. It shows a vent inline with the light fixture over the bed area? If accurate, I would then drill/cut a hole through the ceiling first (not the roof). This would allow you to see inside and gradually enlarge the hole to center and/or avoid wiring and such. Then, and only then, when the size and location has been determined from inside, would I breach the roof. OR-if you don't have an AC unit, I'll bet there's a big free opening in the ceiling area where the factory would've put the AC?

We had some cool morning's recently, which created condensation on the ceiling of our camper directly in line with the aluminum framing. Everywhere else looked normal. I've been considering the addition of a roof vent and now I know exactly where the framing is and isn't. There were 5 of us sleeping in our tiny x160 and it was probably 45degf outside, so inside air humidity was high and the temp was cool enough to reach below dew point.

I have a 2009 189fbs also. My fan is directly over the bed, beginning 6” in front of the light fixture and is 13” x13” opening.
