Default Propane/co2 detector xt275

Ok two questions in one. Currently I am at a campground plugged into a good 30 amp service. About every 15 minutes my detector lets out a single beep. Is there a battery inside the detector or is it connected to the main trailer battery? I checked the trailer battery with a volt meter and got 13.1 volts. Next question is how should the battery disconnect switch be positioned when your plugged in? And when will the battery charge and not charge?

There is a 9v battery in the detector I just went through this on a 276.

Edit that was my smoke detector not sure about the CO detector. Mine acted up when the camper battery was weak. Changed that out and no more false alarms there either.

My bad, it was the smoke detector that was the culprit, they sound alike. I am still looking for some insight on the battery disconnect as the owners manual does not tell you much.

With the 110 Volt unpluged and you push the switch in everything thats 12 Volts will turn off except the LP detector (wired direct to battery) . With switch pushed in and you plug in to 110 Volt everything will work except no battery charging.

So the switch takes the battery out of the circuit. When storing disconect the battery at the battery and shut off LP tanks.

Hope this helps.

Also when towing the switch should be pulled (on) to charge camper from TV and the BREAKAWAY switch will apply the camper brakes if something goes wrong.

Can you better explain? Ours seems to charge while driving and button pushed in? Breakaway switch?

Your vehicle will charge the battery no matter what position the disconnect is in...the umbilical actually has a direct connection to the battery just for that reason. That is one of the reasons that you should unplug the umbilical when you are using power from the pedestal; most newer vehicles have a relay that disconnects that charging circuit when the vehicle is turned off to prevent any feedback to your tow vehicle's charging system, but, just in case, unplug the umbilical anytime that your RV is hooked to 120v power.

Your Carbon Monoxide/LPG detector is also hardwired to the battery - it will work regardless of what position the disconnect is in; a safety design so that no matter what the power condition is, you'll be alerted to a possible LPG leak regardless. Your breakaway switch is wired that way also. Again, a safety design...if you have a battery, and it is hooked up properly, the breakaway switch should have power, and you should never tow without a battery being hooked up for just that reason; no battery = no emergency breakaway braking on the RV in an emergency.

Those two items, along with, probably, your stereo (it has a digital clock that needs power all the time so that you don't have to reset the clock whenever you use the battery disconnect) are the two "biggest" parasitic draws on your battery and why, even when the disconnect is pulled (pushed actually on most FunFinders) your battery will usually go dead in a few weeks without charging.

Well so much for the accuracy of info you get during your walk thru when taking delivery of a new camper.

does the lp detector have its own fuse in the panel? And if so, what amperage? I'm missing a fuse that has a green wire connected to it. I bought my trailer used and the detector was removed as it was out of date. Also anyone know if the cruiser 18BF wiring to the propane detector is green=hot white=neutral?
