Default Range Hood upgrade

We like to listen to CD's or watch a DVD as we cook breakfast in the mornings, but the noise from range hood fan made that nearly impossible. So I found this upgrade kit: Fabulous Operating Products | Home
I have a Heng's brand hood so I have to say the install wasn't simple. I had to drill a bunch of spot welds and trim some of the sheet metal but the results were well worth it. You can hardly hear the fan even on it's highest speed and the LED light is literally like night & day.

Besides being quieter and more efficient, both the light and the fan motor draw less battery power.

Very nice! Well done. A quieter fan sure would be great . . . .

It really is. DW loves to cook so it gets a lot of use. The light upgrade really makes cooking much easier since you can actually see what you're doing. I wish I had thought to take a 'before' pic as the difference really is quite dramatic. And while it wasn't hard to install it did take a bit of work and some time. Mainly drilling out the spot welds. If you have a Ventline brand stove hood you could probably do this mod in an hour.

Great light. A quieter fan would be nice in ours too.

Thanks for the suggested upgrade. The loud fan and lousy light are a regular complaint of ours.

Let me know if you want more details on the install, I've got a lot of pics. Especially if you have a Heng's brand range hood as the fan box is spot welded in place. If you have Ventline hood the kit is more of a plug & play since the fan box is bolted in, so much easier to remove.

Nice upgrade to keep in mind should a replacement ever been needed.

Currently we have no issues regarding the light available or noise from the vent fan .... as do not use either much.

Thanks for the post. When we cook inside the trailer, we have to take the battery out of the smoke detector because invariably the smoke alarm goes off. And, no we don't always burn our food. The fan doesn't take out enough steam and heat to keep the alarm from going off. Sounds like this modification might help immensely.

It does. That's the main reason I did it. DW loves to cook so our stove & oven get a lot of use & we were constantly having to take the smoke alarm down. The improved light was an added bonus. If you don't use the stove much this upgrade is probably not worth it, but if you cook a lot it's a really nice improvement.

Great idea, thanks! At this point I hate our vent fan and refuse to use it! I will put this on my list of things to do.
