An old wood workers trick when a wood screw is stripped out is to insert one or more toothpicks into the hole, break them off flush and then run the screw in.
It works every time going into wood ...... if your framework is wood ?
For an aluminum framed unit, perhaps use those plastic 'drywall' plugs made for when there is no framework behind the drywall. The secret is to fill up the hole so the screw will tighten securely.
