Re-mounting the grill mount

I have an XT-200 that was wrapped by the previous owner and the grill mount rail had been removed. Understandable I was very confused as to how the frame was supposed to attach to the RV until I noticed the mounting rail in the sales brochure I found online. After ordering a rail and stripping off the wrap, i found the original mounting holes. I'm not sure if the screws I bought are too small (diameter and length) or if the holes are stripped out.

In case they are the wrong size, , what screws are supposed to be used?

Assuming they are stripped out, what is the best way to seal the existing holes and what screws should I use to re-mount the rail?

I've never removed the grill mounting rail from my camper so unsure of the size/length of the mounting screws.
Did the rail come with mounting screws or did you purchase them separate?

The new rail did NOT come with mounting screws. I tried to use some 3/4" long self tapping screws. The two on the right held somewhat, the two on the left could just about be pulled out by hand

An old wood workers trick when a wood screw is stripped out is to insert one or more toothpicks into the hole, break them off flush and then run the screw in.

It works every time going into wood ...... if your framework is wood ?

For an aluminum framed unit, perhaps use those plastic 'drywall' plugs made for when there is no framework behind the drywall. The secret is to fill up the hole so the screw will tighten securely.

It is an aluminum frame unit. The holes aren't bid enough for anchors and really don't want to make the holes bigger in case it doesn't work, because then it would harder to fill them.

You could contact one or more of your local RV dealers service departments and inquire about a 'fix' that will resolve the issue....or even Camping World.
