The thing about silicon is that once you use it, you will not be able to use it or anything else in the same location again without sanding the area first. The reason is that Silicon caulking once cured will not stick to anything else, not even itself. So if you have to remove the door again for any reason, you will have to remove all traces of silicon on the surfaces before reinstalling and caulking the door or it will leak. I would use butyl rubber caulking or a good grade of latex caulking for the job.
