Default Skylight cover

Had to replace the cover over the skylight above the shower. The plastic cover had a hole in it and some long cracks. Got a oem one from cruiser rv. $179.00 they are not cheap. Was a easy fix, hardest part was removing all the old sealant.

I got the top cover from Amazon for less than $25, swapped the old cracked one and resealed around frame, all is well.

My mistake, saw over shower and assumed it was the same problem I had, I call my little one a skylight also, I wish it was that large.

Actually, the large skylight is a poor idea IMO. Yes, it lets in light but it also allows heat from the sun to warm the interior, increasing the load on the A/C unit.

I purchased a piece of dark grey foam rubber, slightly larger than the skylight opening and wedged it into place. That has greatly reduced the summer heat infiltration. I also added a light bar with 4 fluorescent bulbs above the medicine cabinet so more than adequate light.

What ever you get, make sure it is polycarbonate or lexan.
