Default water damage

After winter storage, my dealer noted and repaired a leak. I didn't notice the damage inside until a month or two later. All together, the damage is fairly minor--only 1 square foot or so and most of it out of sight. My question is: do I have to repair that damage? Will I further ruin the unit if I let it be? It's not soft, just bumpy--no mold, no smell. Thanks.
