Hey Guys
Just picked up an 08 139x , like it so far, only 1 problem so far, tried useing the fridge on propane it didn't get very cold and the counter top above the fridge got pretty hot. Trailer was level and fridge was on for about 8 hours. Anyone have any sugguestions. BTW nice forum.

Welcome smp139x!!

We use the propane feature on the fridge when loading up and in transit to RV parks and it always works great. It is on up to 24 hours at a time, and no issues so far. The only thing I would do would be to close the tank, turn on one of the burners on the range to release any pressure, turn off the burner, re-open the tank, turn on and light 2 burners for a couple minutes, then turn on the fridge. Maybe there is a pressure differencial in the line, and by firing up the range you can clear the system.

I have not used propane for getting the fridge cold, I have always been hooked up to electric, but I also get it started a couple days before I load & leave. In addition, I chill any food we plan to take in the fridge in my house refridgerator so the trailers fridge doesn't have to work harder. I also freeze breakfast sausages or other meat and place it in with items in the fridge of the trailer just before we leave and I turn off the unit while towing. Some people travel with the propane running, not a safe idea. I have seen one trailer on the side of a highway before rescue had arrived, the floor was the only thing left following the fire, cause unknown, but like I said, I don't travel with the propane open or on. This may be more than you want to know, but while I am at it, is there anybody out there that can tell me if I should be using propane over electric to run the refridgerator? I am not afraid to use it for the stove, or furnace, water tank, just haven't tried it out on the fridge, yet. I find having thermometers for the freezer and fridge extremely helpful, too.

Glad to see you posting up on the forums! In my opinion there is really not a big difference between gas and electricity for the fridge/freezer. When using propane you are consuming gas from your tanks, but the propane system in the fridge has no moving parts so you are not wearing anything out. I would say it is a toss up, depending on what is important to you , or where you are camping.

Thank you for the welcome back & fridge reply! Alan, are you worried at all about having the propane on while enroute to the campgrounds? The underside of our TT's are exposed to whatever, not trying to be your mom here just wondering, and, I do want you to be safe from harm. Maybe a topic for a pole? What do you think? Is this something most campers do and hows it been working for everyone? Just a thought.
