Default Hello from Northwest Michigan

We recently purchased a 2008 Fun Finder 189 FBR (without the slide out). We love it's compact size, it's layout, and the construction details that it was built with. We are pulling it with a 2006 Jeep Liberty using an equalizer hitch and sway bars. The last rev we owned was way back in 1990 when we toured the US for 11 months in a 32 foot Prairie Schooner towed by an F-350 one ton dual lay. A lot has changed since then including the size of the trailer! We can't wait for spring to start exploring!! We also enjoy riding our motorcycles, our family of three dogs and two cats, kayaking, boating, hiking and photography. Our retirement home in the Manistee National Forest is a paradise for all of this.

Congrats on your purchase! We have a 2007 189fbr, no slide. Just the 2 of us most of the time...did take grandkids with us once, bunk & fold down table came in handy for sleeping! Have only gone out 3 times (just got it last spring), but very happy with it. Only thing I wish is that there would be more space between kitchen and dinette and that tv was placed in different area so could view from both seats of dinette!

Thanks for the Welcome! Yes, we agree with both of your points. A slide would help I guess, but that would mean more weight I guess and I like the dinette arrangement. As for the tv, I agree. I'm thinking of a way to use that space for something in addition to the tv. Haven't tried to see if it's possible...it's 9 degrees here this morning!! Future ideas...a different tv with hdmi, a Fantastic vent with rain sensor, a convection/microwave, and foremost a new mattress!!
I'll be making new dinette covers and window valances soon. Trying to decide on colors. Also removing the wallpaper border in the kitchen area and replacing it with those stick on tile things.

In order for me to watch tv, as I'm the one that sits with back to it, we bought a folding chair that I sit in that is in the small space in front of the bed between dinette bench and kitchen cabinet. Not ideal but it beats not being able to watch.
I made new covers for dinette bench backs and curtains to match for the window @ the dinette. With extra (left over) fabric, I made throw pillows and used in a quilt (still working on) for the bed. Agree about mattress, what a nightmare, no pun intended! We did buy a memory foam (off brand) mattress pad. Helps a little bit.

Would like to put the tiles on the wall around burners as well, though haven't used them or the microwave yet.

Good luck on your "mods".

The cushions must make a big difference. Personalize the space. Good idea about the pillows and quilt. It's snowing...they say maybe 6-12 inches but they are usually about as accurate as guessing here. Lake Michigan rules our weather. Lol! I will post pictures as we make changes to our rig.

Hi Michigantraveler... welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase...

We are not too far away in Central Minnesota and like you, it is cold here... -13 at 6:00 am today...

We also purchased our '08 FF last year and tried to use the trailer often, and put over 5,000 miles on it last year ... LOVE it...

Hope to see you guys on the road... we love the North Shores and will head up that way this summer... Look for the FunFinder 190 with no front window...

We bought our grand nephew a Route 66 sign for Christmas! He loves signs!! Neat theme. Does 66 run through Kansas? You can put your pictures on the Flickr.com site for free. Then just copy the irk and paste it here in your message.

Here is my proposed scheme for a new floor, cushions, bed divider curtain, and stick on tiles around the curtain. My husband picked the color for the bottom cushions. It's faux leather. Dog hair should brush off. The backs are indoor/outdoor fabric. Definitely not rustic! Lol!

Yes, it runs through the southern part for a short distance. I don't live near it, but I Love nostalgia! My husband lived in Joplin, Missouri and he knew of Route 66 as it ran near there.

Hi Jilly, we just might make it up there. Right next to Michigan, right?
