Hello,
I live in California and have had a 2008 189FBR since July. I tow it with a 2007 FJ cruiser and love it. I have two kids, 7 and 3 and they love it too. We upgraded from a Coleman pop up and now we plan to camp all year round. My wife is happy that she doesn't have to use campground bathrooms anymore and that we now have a huge fridge. I'm happy I don't have to pop it up every time I want to pack it up. Favorite camping spots include Morro Bay state park, Leo Carillo, El Capitan and Carpenteria.

Hello chupp21, and welcome!! Glad you found the forum, we need more activity on here! My wife and I , along with our two dogs, just spent the week of Thanksgiving at the Flying Flags RV Resort in Buelton, CA. We have stayed in Pismo, and at Ocean Mesa RV by El Capitan. We love that area, its worth the 8 hour drive from Phoenix. Do you dry camp at the state beaches near the ocean? That is the next phase we are looking into, but we need a decent, fairly quiet generator before we jump into it.

Have you used the Yamaha with the Fun Finder? Its works well? Any recomendations on sites?

We mostly dry camp at State Parks, I like the bigger spots and it's less expensive. You usually have to reserve 7 months in advance depending on when and where you want to go. My favorite spot is Morro Bay state park, there is so much to do you never get bored. There is kayaking, a downtown, farmers market on Thursdays in San Luis which is a college town close by(Cal Poly), Cambria and Pismo are also close as well as Hearst Castle. We also like Leo Carillo.
I don't have any problems with dry camping. I have a pump and a 7 gal water can to refill the fresh water. I use the generator to charge up the batteries but I plan to add some solar panels. I love the Yamaha. The EU2000is does not have enough power for the AC and the EU3000is too heavy and expensive. The EF2400is is just right. I wrote up a bit more in Modifications, Repair and Maintenance.

Thanks for the info Dave!! I checked out your write up in Mods/Repair/Maint and am checking out the EF2400is. Also looking into reserving a spot at one of the beaches, probably Morro Bay to begin with. Thanks again Man!!

I forgot to mention, Morro Bay SP does have some sites with partial hookups, no sewer. They do have a free dump station at the park.
