Default Newby to camper remodel

Hello! So I'm 52 year old female with an 08' funfinder camper that has been neglected and in the elements therefore has been leaking. I first off need a vent cover, mines shattered. Also the refrigerator was worked on and issue never resolved so should I replace it and is there a forum for these things? I already started tearing out the ceiling and covered the roof and I'm pretty sure I'll need to scrape all sealant on the roof and replace it, the air unit on the ceiling was blowing out black... I'm not sure how to handle that yet either, but one thing at a time. Glad I found this club! Cheryl in Knoxville TN.

The vent cover is the easy part. You can find them at multiple places on the internet, like here for example:
https://www.campingworld.com/replace...%2Fvent-covers
But shop around, you'll can probably find the same thing for a cheaper price. You might even be able to get one at Walmart as they carry a lot of common RV supplies.
As for the fridge you can just replace just the cooling unit instead of the whole fridge. I've heard good things about this company https://jc-refrigeration.com/products/ often referred to as Amish refrigeration. They make replacement refrigeration cooling systems that are claimed to better than the originals and you don't have to remove the fridge from the trailer to install it. I'm not sure how much they cost, but from what I've heard it's much less then a brand new fridge. Good luck & welcome to the forum!

Hi Cheryl,

I have a 2008 189FBR (no slide) which hubs and I are living in full-time. I have totally remodeled ours, you can see the projects here, don't know if any are of interest to you. I am a 65 year old woman who does all the work (hubby has no interest) so don't be overwhelmed - you can DO THIS!

If you don't plan to camp often without electric service, you can replace your refrigerator with a regular dorm size (or larger) refrigerator for a lot less money than an rv refrigerator. That's what my sister did.

Good luck, and don't sweat it

Liz

For the air conditioner start by spraying Lysol as it's running to the return air vent
