Default 2007 X-139 Front Cap Replacement Aluminum?

Hi Everyone. New to the forum here. We recently bought a 2007 X-139. Unfortunately, without proper research, we purchased it without really taking the front cap delamination seriously. We got a good price on it so hopefully we didnt totally screw ourselves. We were doing research on repairing the front cap and saw several people replace the fiberglass cap with aluminum sheets instead. Has anyone ever completed that kind of job? Any tips would be great. Thanks.

The X160 2008 , we bought a couple month had both the front and back replaced by precious owner, both are now white aluminum and I have decals on the way. It allowed for cabinets over the bed area where the front window was so much better now anyway.

Radical thought -- is it leaking? Is it likely to leak? If not, maybe just leave it alone??

There's a fun finder group on facebook. Recently saw pics of an owner that had the entire front laminate peeled off, replaced plywood sheathing and then finished with diamond plate. Impressive! That might help. Pics are also in this group. https://www.funfinderclub.com/forums...albums140.html

It's not currently leaking to the inside of the camper but we definitely sure it leaked under the fiberglass.

Nice! I've done some research and people say it's way better.

We had the aluminum fabricator make an S-bend on one and them, screwed it down and then slid the other one in the bend. I attached a photo of what the bend looks like. Once everything was attached, we caulked the seam.
