Default awning woes ohh boy

my 2008 came with an awning that got hit when the original owner was backing into his back yard. the left facing upright is bent and the inside working are no good. the tarp roller is not rolling back up by itself. in all, there is no hardware attached to the trailer. when the top bracket gets installed to the tralier by two fasteners, are they machine screws or are the like a threaded drywall screw. all the holes are caulked up so i'm not sure what to use up there. please help. i will also have to order the left upright and the parts to make the roller retreive by itself. probably a lot of words for a small fix. ohh boy

Most likely, as is the case with other fasteners, they are aluminum Robertson head (square drive; marvelous invention, I use them exclusively in everything from wood working to metal working; McFeely's carries a full line of them) aluminum screws with a white baked on finish or heavy duty Phillips head sheet metal screws; very few machine screws used on these trailers.

You can price out the parts you'll need, but, you may find, if you follow sales, that you can replace the whole awning for the same or less. Just another option... Quite often, the individual parts are more expensive than the sum of all the parts.
