Default Creaking floor

Whatcha got? Mine is driving me nuts. Can't move in the thing without the floor making all these noises. I've never heard one this bad. No insulation down there apparently.

Another pet peeve is the stabilizers don't seem to do anything. The camper still rocks around with someone walking in it. I have the electric ones and there are down on lynx blocks with level caps. Still rocks and one side of my wheels is chocked. Other side is on a row of lynx block pads and I don't have those chock pieces that go on the lynx blocks. I will get those before my next trip to see if that will solve it.

Don't know what to tell you about the creaking floor...you could probably, with a fair amount of labor, get under the trailer and shim them lightly at the cross braces. The floors in my house creak...its the nature of the beast.

The rock and roll? One chock on one side, or even a pair of chocks on one side isn't going to do it, that's even if you are putting the pair of chocks under the tires properly (most people just tap one under a tire and call it a day). Try a pair of BAL X-Chocks, one on each side. You are sitting on a set of rubber tires that give, on axles that are spring mounted and you are only supported at the four corners. The beams of the trailer flex (they are designed that way) and you will gain a great deal of stability by locking the tandem tires together so that they can't rock back and forth and they become much stiffer due to the pressure of the X-Chocks pressing into both of them. The only way you can get rid of 100% of it is to take the axles off, put the frame on a perimeter wall of cinder blocks...like a sticks and bricks.

The floor in mine creaks to. I have noticed after you walk on it for awhile, the creaking seem to subside somewhat. Haven't noticed any real issue as far as rocking when walking in the unit.

Roy, On the movement .. rock'n .. we use the X-Chocks webslave notes and they DO help a lot, but I'm still planning to replace the cheapo and slow electric stab jacks with Bal scissor jacks. Seems no matter what I do, these things just do not do a proper job of stabilizing the unit. But you're never going to have a rock solid unit ... unless you want to graduate to a really large and much heaver rig.
