Default Digital TV Antenna

Is it my imagination or did Cruiser RV give up on the round digital antennas after a year or two and go back to the old crank up style?

I bought my 214WSD new in 2011 and it came with a round flying saucer shaped TV antenna, which I assumed was connected to the switch over to digital over the air TV channels. I never got very many stations with it, but I was new to digital.

Now, I camp often with a friend who has a 2014 FF and theirs came with the old style crank up antennas. (I assume though upgraded to accommodate digital).

I now know my newer style antenna is crap compared to theirs. When they get 10 to 15 channels, I am lucky to get one.

Is it that the one they tried for a year or two proved useless and they've gone back to the old style?

Should I tear out mine and install a new one of the older style?

My xt276 (2012) came with the round Jensen TV antenna and it was very difficult to pickup channels and usually, zero reception.

I replaced it with the Jack antenna (digital) and it's functions great. They are not expensive either and installation isn't all that difficult.

IIRC, I ordered it from Amazon.com and the price was lower than ^^

Thanks! I'll start looking into it!

Our 2014 214WSD has the crank up "old style" antenna. It is digital and gets a ton of channels. Get one.

On my 2006 FF we had the old crank up and it worked fine. My 2012 FF has the round one. Because of its shape, I call it the "Starship Enterprise." But shame on me. Even Scotty would not be able to coax a TV channel out of that worthless antenna. I guess even unresponsive Cruiser RV occasionally sees the error of its ways and fixes something that wasn't broke in the first place.

I changed the old batwing antenna on my 2010 with the new Wineguard Razor. Did not work at first until I found that the 24 inch TV was not digital compatible. Replaced the TV and I now have 6 Stations up here. Razor was an easy install which took all of 30 min.

I want to do the same with my useless saucer. Were there any problems with the wiring.
