Exclamation Discovered leak in propane hose near tank!

I was just checking our propane tanks before we pull out and discovered one of the short 1ft hoses has a large leak near the switching valve. I will replace both to be safe. Our trailer is only 3 1/2 years old and the tanks have always been covered. Is such a failure normal? Is there any PMI?
Thanks!

Maybe not normal, but not unusual either. You may have had the trailer for 3 1/2 yrs., but who knows how long that hose was hanging around the factory before it was installed. When I bought my trailer that hose leaked soon after I drove it off the lot. The dealer gave me a new one and it's been leak free for close to 10 years. I've gotten into the habit of checking it before every trip when I turn on the propane because it's easy to do and just to be sure.

Yes, mine cracked after 7-8 years. The dealer installed it though, in order to do the pressure check, etc.

A few years ago, I checked the propane tanks (always covered since new) just before a trip 'cause the frig wouldn't light on propane.
As I pulled off the cover, I noticed the short connector hose on one tank had blown apart from the crimped fitting near the switch over gizmo and lost all the propane in that tank.
IN a pinch for time, I secured it with a small hose clamp that proved leak free after installation & re-filling the tank.
As first opportunity, I replaced the hose with a new one...no issues since.
