DIY awning replacement

If you have replaced your awning material, please tell me your experience. We need to replace our 10ft awning material and are thinking of doing it ourselves. We are fairly good at DIY projects, attempting to tackle most ourselves. We've read reviews and watched videos but still unsure of ability to do a professional looking job. What is the material or maker of choice? Any input is appreciated.

I'd say Go For It!
I measured the length and width and then started checking the patterns and colors that we liked the best. Ended up finding the 'ideal' one on Ebay. After it arrived I invited our son over and it was no problem for the three of us adults to install. You may want to watch a Youtube video first.

We replaced ours. It was not that tough. Just need an extra hand. We watched a YouTube video and took notes. Just remember when ordering the replacement fabric, they measure from center to center of each awning arm. We bought based on fabric size and it's a little shorter. Kinda like buying a 2x4, they aren't actual size.

We replaced our awning fabric ourselves. Ordered it from RVAwningsMart. Followed their included and on-line directions and it was easy enough. Took about two hours total. Of course ours is a T139 and only an 8' awning.
I vote go for it.

I replace my awning with the help of a friend. We found it was much easier to drill another hole in the end cap where the latch is. There was no need to undo any hardware.

Here are the steps.
1. Open awning. do not remove legs from camper. do not extend legs.
2. place saw horses under the awning roller.
3. Use razor knife to cut awning where the splines are. Along camper roof and two spots along roller.
4. Remove bolt from camper that holds the Arm to the roof where latch is.
5. remove screws, if any, that holds spline in channel along roof.
6. Drill hole in end cap, where latch is, where the one spline is.
7. Remove splines by sliding them out the holes in end cap. One is existing
the other is the one you drilled.
8. Using a friend slide the awing, with spline, into roof channel and the roller into hole from factory.
9. Using a plastic tool, Bondo spreader, one came with my new awning, push the awning material into the channel while sliding the spline into the hole you drilled down the length of the roller. I used silicone spray as a lubricant. helped a lot.
10. Replace any screws you removed from the spline along the roof attach arm back to camper roof, Use silicone caulk to seal hole.
11. done Roll up awning as usual.
