Default Fold up/down shelf in kitchen ??????

Does anyone have a better use for the fold down shelf that manages to block the door and the outlet all at the same time?

For the most part I think the X210 is pretty well laid out - EXCEPT for that thing. Clearly that was an afterthought way of adding some more counter space. And maybe there's some code that requires the outlet to be so many inches off the floor. But really, what were they thinking!!??

Some posters have moved that outlet so that it's accessible when the shelf is folded down. Doesn't help with blocking the door though.

I've just gotten in the habit of only using that shelf either after we're in for the night or early in the morning to make breakfast. Otherwise I just leave it down and put the folding table flat on the bed to use as extra counter space.
