Default Fresh water tank drain

I have to crawl under my 189 FBS travel trailer to open the fresh water tank drain. Has anyone tried to remove the factory drain valve and added an extension of some sort that allows you to drain the tank from the side of the trailer?

Default Another idea

I made a long stick with a gripper that fits over the drain valve -- so I can turn it on and off without crawling under. Sort of like the big wrench you use to turn off the water supply to a house next to the curb. Kind of a crude solution, but it works!

Default Fresh water tank drain

Thanks profdant139. I may give that a try if my new idea doesn't work.
I just crawled under my trailer again and noticed that the water tank drain valve has a short snub where the water runs out. I think I can shove a 1/2" hose over the snub and secure it with a hose clamp. If I leave the factory valve in the open position, run the hose to the side of trailer and put a shutoff valve on the end of the hose, I only need to open the new shutoff valve at the end of the hose to drain the tank. Worth a try. I'll post results.

that's what I did also ran a pick up tube inside the tank so I can use every drop of water and drain it all. Have a valve next to the stairs so very simple to drain also lets me fill dogs water bowl quickly
