Default Front cap

So I am about 2,000 miles into this journey in Colorado and at this point my only complaint is bugs (and stuff) hitting the front cap are taking small chips of the black and leaving the white gel coat showing. Not a big deal but..... And yes, Eagle, I know you don't have this problem . I put a good coat of wax on just before leaving. Why on earth would they put black decals on the front cap?

Other than that, this camper, knock on wood, is doing great for us.

Hi Mark,

I certainly don't know why Cruiser decided to put black on the front of their units but I have noticed it seems to be trend throughout the industry as many mfgrs are doing it. Personally, it is not my color choice IF it were up to me to make that decision.

Not sure bugs would 'chip' off the decal but I'm sure small stones thrown up by passing vehicles or the tow unit would. ??

Trust you will have a fun and enjoyable trip. The mountains there are beautiful!

PS: Leave the pot in Colorado

Hey Eagle, throw the bike in the garage and come meet us.

And thanks for the reminder. I would need it if I did

Mark, we completed a 7,000 mile trip two months ago. I noticed on the left side were the fiberglass top meets the roof area, there seems to be a lot of flexing of the cap in that area. I had to re-caulk that one area about three times during the trip.
The new roofs use a Alpha system, and the caulking, does not take all the flexing from the front cap. Might want to keep an eye on this area. Jerry

Ohhh ~ Cody Wyoming! I haven't been there in quite some time. BE SURE you take about a half a day to spend at the Cody Museum. It's AWESOME! And a visit to the Erma Hotel/Cafe once owned by Bill Cody is great too. The back bar came from England, a gift from the Queen IIRC.

The closest I will get to Cody, Wyoming is heading to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that runs Aug 4 -10. BIL and I will be at the Tilford Gulch Campground about 8 miles from Sturgis along the interstate toward Rapid City. It will be dry camping but have bath house w/showers and food available. RV rates around Sturgis during bike week are horrible ~ most only rent for the entire week at $1,000 - $1,300. Some are $100 - $200 per night and to rich for me. Tilford gets $20 and $15 per person, 3 night minimum so very reasonable, comparably.

One year stayed at the Rafter J Bar Ranch RV campground but it's down by Mt. Rusmore/Hill City and near 80 miles from Sturgis but great rates for full hookups (no cable) of about $50 per night. Good Sam campground.

Let me know if you will be in the Black Hills between the 4th - 10th and we can have lunch or ??

Darn Eagle, we will be going to Cody and then the Yellowstone area during that time. We want to ride the empty roads of the west and since everyone will be in Sturgis I figure we will own the roads during that time. Besides, my wife camps with full hook ups only.

I will visit every place you suggested. Have fun and post some photos of the event.

Been several years since been in Yellowstone, great roads to run with the bike too and lots to see.

I'm guessing you will see lots of bikes on the roads 'cause folks come and go to sturgis all week long...some just for the weekend, some for a day or two only and some for the whole week but bike traffic on all roads to/from Sturgis will have bikes on them.

and let me know what you think of the museum and hotel in Cody, Wyo.

Hey Eagle.

Museum in Cody was unbelievable. Spent two days and did not see everything. We rode the Chief Joseph highway and Beartooth twice. Great time there. Been in West Yellowstone for a week and headed to Oregon tomorrow.

We had a shower leak where the sealant around tub drain shifted and water was flooding bathroom floor. Two hours to tear tub apart and a tube of silicone fixed that problem. You don't want to see the craftsmanship of the tub structure. Oh well.

How was Sturgis?

Hi Mark,

Glad you enjoyed the Cody museum. It's been several years since I was there but remember it fondly. Oh, an a guard I was chatting with ~ when I mentioned about all the neat firearms they had on display, stated they had over 3 times that many stored away & no room to display them. Awesome museum IMHO! Yellowstone is super to ride on a motorcycle with great views of mother natures workmanship.

Sturgis was great, as usual. Zillions of vendors and millions of bikes. Estimates are 500,000 people too. The entire Black Hills area had bikes everywhere.

My time was cut short by call from wife in the E.R. at home so packed up and hit the road. After a week in the hospital due to an intestinal blockage, she is home and feeling fine & returning to work part time this AM. Odd thing is the Doc, a specialist, said it can happen to anyone at anytime even if it's happened before and self corrected or surgically corrected.

All is well on the home front, Sturgis was short but great and the XT276 functioned great. The Honda E2000I gen/inverters worked super as the A/C was used for a comfortable nights sleep.
