Default Has anyone tried the Lippert Straptek Weight Distribution System?

The video looks makes it look very slick and easy to use. A big plus is that they are on sale today (December 1) only for half price!

I went ahead and ordered a set before the deadline and will report back if they are indeed worth the price. At this point I am optimistic. It will indeed be a plus if they reduce sway from passing trucks as well as being easier to install/disconnect.

Even discounted it seams like a high price for what’s essentially a couple of ratchet straps welded to a bracket. I’d also worry the about polyester sun rotting over time and not realizing it’s been weakened till I’m headed down the road when one load bar springs loose. - but I’m a worry wort.

Interesting....

I think I'll stick with my Equalizer.
I have an electric tongue jack and it's really not a big deal to raise and lower for attaching the load bars.

The claim to fame is that the straps are much shorter than the chains which significantly helps to control sway. The way I understand it is that the active range of the load bar is greatly increased which translates into better sway control. I had previously noted that if I didn't have the chains as short as I could get them that the load control was compromised. I'll report back with any obvious seat-of-the-pants benefits.

Got it. However, the Equalizer does not have any chains to begin with.

One of the main reasons I chose it. Its now on its 3rd trailer, 4th truck, and still works like a charm. Basically no sway to speak of under any circumstances, easy to use, and does its job for weight distribution too!

That is what I understood from the Lippert literature. For those of us who weren't enlightened to invest in the Equalizer at the beginning, Lippert provides a path to upgrade nearly any weight distribution hitch to have similar qualities.
