Default Help : Battery connections

My battery was stolen and I was wondering which is ground and which is positive. I have a white wire and a green wire. Also should I trickle charge the battery before I put it on the trailer?

Man that suck. I hate when people take stuff that's not theirs. But to answer your question on my camper white is ground. Idk if yours is the same, if you have extra wire and an ohm meter you could easily find out. Maybe look at your DC fuse panel, I know my positive and negative wire mounts to the front and they are marked with + and - on the fuse panel.

+1^^^ The green is hot & white is ground.
I assume you have a new battery so you shouldn't need to charge it.

Actually, deep cycle manufacturers recommend that new batteries be "freshened" or conditioned with an equalizing charge before the first use. It is not crucial -- but it can improve battery life. (I just got two new group 31s and did not know this until now.) They recommend a 15 volt charge, which causes the water to bubble, for about two hours. Take the caps off and do this in a well ventilated place.

Yup .. the white wire is the ground ~ at least on mine.

When I replaced the deep cycle Interstate battery that came in my 2012 XT 276 this spring, I installed a deep cycle AGM Optima battery. A search on the net resulted in a cost of only a few $$ more than a wet cell battery.

I've had better success with the Optima AGM batteries in my vehicles than any other brand ever tired, therefore it was my first (and only) choice.
