Default Magnetic "Door Halfway Open" Holder

We needed a way to keep the door halfway open, so I made this simple magnetic door holder:

Wow! Great idea! Sometimes it seems so "closed-in" & I don't want the door totally open that this "mod" just might do the trick! Thanks!

Those neodymium or rare earth magnets are SUPER STRONG for their size. You have a wonderful mod there to hold the door partially open.

BTW ~ those who do not have access to such magnets, they are available on Ebay in varous shapes and sizes.

I put two of them under my Harley Davidson (appx 1/2" x 1/2" x 2") to 'trip' stop lights that use a sensor in the pavement to trigger the lights to change. Without them, a motorcycle often does not present a large/strong enough presence for the sensor in the pavement to trigger the stop lights so you can sit and wait for a green light forever. Now that doesn't happen!

Eagle, that is a great idea -- I may put something on my bicycle for the same reason!

The magnets available on Ebay rarely have holes for mounting -- that is why I use computer magnets, which usually have holes.

Actually, there is quite a number of offerings in Ebay of earth magnets with a hole in them for mounting...various sizes too.

On the motorcycle, I just placed them on the bottom side of the frame, I didn't fasten them in anyway as they really hold strong. Had them on for several years and never lost one!

Thanks for that link! I especially like the magnets with the countersunk hole, so that the screw will not stick up. Those would be better than the salvaged computer magnets that I used (except that mine were free).

While searching older posts I came across this post about magnets. I removed my factory latch and built a magnetic latch to keep it wide open. It works great and you are able to close the door while reaching from inside the trailer. I used two powerful rubber coated magnets as I hate rust. Picture is of the old latch which I never liked.
