Default Need some crappy advise from all you stinkers out there

We have a 189FDS with the original Dometic 300 toilet. The flush valve cracked over the winter and I'm trying to decide whether to just replace the valve or whether there is enough of a reason to upgrade the toilet? The bathroom in the trailer is tiny so an elongated bowl isn’t an option.

Any thoughts? ...suggestions? ...recommendations?

We replaced our unreliable and stinky factory toilet with a Aqua-Magic V RV Toilet Hand Flush / High Profile / White - Thetford 31667 from Amazon. We couldn't be happier and it was only~$100. If the valve ever goes bad it is cheaper and easier to replace than the original. No more problems and comfortable, if you know what I mean!

Did it bolt directly on or where there any modifications needed to switch brands?

Yes, mounting-wise it was an exact replacement and a simple task. From memory:
1) Disconnect water line
2) Remove the two nuts which secure it to the floor and lift up.
3). Clean the floor and remove the old gasket.
4). Install the new gasket supplied and lower the new bowl in place.
5). Install the new mounting hardware supplied and tighten evenly until snug to the floor.
6). Retighten after a couple of days.
7). My wife is a little OCD about cleanliness so I put a bead of some clear RTV sealant between the bowl and the floor.
. Enjoy!

my 189fds flush valve had a crack in it over winter and I replaced mine about 2 years ago it was easy to replace and cheap. Easer and cheaper than replacing the whole toilet.

I just replaced the flush valve this weekend, cost me $25.00 as opposed to $125.00 for new.
