Default Painting the Interior "Wood" Surfaces

Has anyone painted the interior "wood" surfaces in their Fun Finder? The 2012 M-189 FBS we are purchasing has the dark cherry cabinets and trim and I would like to brighten up the interior by painting everything with a light colored paint. I've painted real wood kitchen cabinets with good success before but not camper cabinets which are only partially wood on the surfaces you see. (Internally they have a wood frame but some surfaces are wood patterned foil over light cheap wood.) Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this before.

I have painted vinyl in my house many years ago -- disaster. I did not use the right primer, and the paint came off in strips.

Maybe try an inconspicuous area first, just to see about adhesion??
