Acetone might work. Although given that it's quite flammable and you don't want to breathe the fumes you might hit your local big box hardware store. They will stock removers specifically designed for removing carpet and tile adhesives.

A YouTube video suggested Acetone. Someone else said sawdust and someone else said baking soda. Then I found this...
"After you remove all of the old tiles, get a product called Citristrip Adhesive Remover For Floor. It is one of the best adhesive removers to remove old contact adhesive. Use Citristrip or any other adhesive remover, apply generously, wait an hour or 2, and then scrape away to remove it very easily. Be sure to open the windows so the fumes can escape and not overwhelm you while working. (Wear a mask, take showers afterwards, and vacuum with a HEPA vacuum)"

Read about Citristrip, going to try lacquer thinner first, then acetone. Both are about the same, lot of fumes, flammable, etc. Got a good mask I use when painting cars. Glue is not bad, worse in places. Paint scraper is needed after any product used. Tnx for input.
