Power Awning Preventative Maintenance
I recently discovered that the Dometic Power Awning was very slow to roll out (under both shore power and battery). After seeing the price of a replacement motor, I decided to try lubricating the torsion coil spring inside the awning tube. Tilting the motor side of the awning down, I sprayed WD-40 (using the attached red tube) into the holes of the raised end cap. In doing this, make sure you put down cardboard or drop cloth to catch the WD-40 that leaks out. Now roll it up and down a few times and repeat the lub operation again. Next, go to the motor side and check the electrical plug at the top of the extension arm. Mine connection was a bit dirty and corroded, so I took steel wool and cleaned them up. Before reconnecting, I used a little dielectric grease to prevent new corrosion. Now my awning works like new.
