Default Power Hitch Jack

Hello, I have a 2009 18FBS (slide) and using a 2018 GMC Sierra to tow. I want to install a 12VDC power Jack on hitch. Interested to know what others are using? Is a 3500 LB enough?
Thank you.

For an 18FBS - I would think a 3500# would be more than adequate .. but perhaps it would be good to check your actual hitch weight with trailer loaded to determine actual hitch weight IMO.

I have a 3500 lb power jack that I got from Costco a few years ago. Don't remember the brand offhand. It's plenty powerful enough though.
One thing to watch for is the clearance around the jack head. You want to make sure it clears the propane tanks. Of course you can always mount it sideways but then if it has a light the light will shine in the wrong direction.

Just a reminder to use an inline fuse if you feed it directly from the batteries. The power jack should carry a recommended fuse rating.

I picked a highly rated 3500lb one on Amazon and it worked great!

I use a Husky 5000 lb for my 214 WSD, and its great. They also have a 4500lb. Personally, I'd use a model with a higher rating than 3500 even for your 189.

The Huskies even have a remote control which is very handy when leveling.

Also, used with my rear camera, with "hitch view" I can hook up, using the remote without assistance!

Thanks for replies. I'm also using a weight distribution hitch thus once ball on I have to jack up front of trailer AND back of Sierra in order to attach torsion bars chains and by this time the truck has gear in back and trailer stocked ready to go, so per DiverRick looking at 4000 lbs. As they say go big or go home!

I have the same trailer and when my jack failed, I installed a Bulldog 500187 (Amazon).

I have a 2015 Ford Expedition and the original jack prohibited me from lifting my liftgate if the trailer was even slightly crooked. This new liftgate can be installed sideways giving me plenty of room for the liftgate. Works great!

x2 with my XTRA Toy Hauler
Very happy with it.
Actually used it to tilt the camper on jack stands when doing the axle flip.
