Default Repair a leak in fresh water tank

As most know, it's near impossible to repair a leak in a camper fresh water tank as they are made of HDPE - High Density Polyethene that is near impossible to glue or repair. HDPE is the same 'plastic' used to make milk jugs.

Most recommended it to use a 'plastic welding' process and a plastic welder isn't inexpensive whatsoever.

I contacted Cruiser who provided me with the name of mfg of the fresh water tanks. I contacted them and they are a discontinued item...so none available.

On my unit, the drain valve screws into a boss on the tank and the boss developed a crack where it joins the bottom of the tank - and leaked water.

I tried all kinds of glues and epoxy's with zero success. Finally after another internet search, I located an epoxy called Infinity MMA-500 which I ordered from 'www.gluegun.com' and was promptly received.

It's easy to apply, hardly any prepwork necessary and is easy to use like squeezing caulk from a gun.

THE STUFF REALLY WORKS and it sealed up the crack in the fresh water tank so no more leak!!!

Passing it along for your information.

Very useful info -- thanks for posting! I wonder if this stuff would work on black and gray tanks, too.

From what I've read when researching the subject:
I 'believe' the black and grey water tanks are made of ABS plastic as they are black as are the lines to the discharge port. ABS glue is available at any home improvement/plumbing/hardware store and some big box stores too.

The freshwater tanks are 'roto-molded' and made of High-Density Polyethylene HDPE because it is lightweight, tough and does not absorb or impart any odor or taste - same reason it's used for milk jugs.
