Default Replaced the wheel bearings on both axles

On a recent trip, I noticed the axle grease cap had come off the rear axle, passenger side but continued the couple hundred miles home.

Once home, I removed the wheel and pulled the hub. The factory bearings were China made and the rollers were flaking plus the cages that hold the rollers were very loose from wear.

I've lubed the E Z lube axles every year but never pulled the hubs. After seeing the condition of the bearings in the one hub - I pulled all the hubs and replaced all the wheel bearings in both axles with Timken USA made bearings.

Should be good for well over another 10 years!

Good to do it yourself. I trusted a shop to do mine when covid hit. I never took the trailer out till the year after and one of my wheels cought fire. Now I re did all my wheels and feel a lot better than having someone else do it. The bearings are not that expensive unless they catch fire. Maybe a good idea to EZ one year and check the bearings every second year. 3 days sitting in a rest stop and no help from Good Sam club.

I do all my own vehicle maintenance = car, pickup, motorcycle and camper as am a certified mechanic although got out of that work professionally decades ago.

As my Dad told me: "Never pay someone to do what you can do yourself"

And I've found often others don't do a proper job so doing it yourself assures it's done correctly and completely.
