Replacement baggage door clips - any made of metal?

Have you replaced yours? Do you just get another set of plastic ones and wait for them to break too? Or is there a metal replacement?

I've never had any issues with any of the baggage door plastic clips on any of our trailers so I can't help but wonder what you are doing to cause them to break ?

After 5 years I just replaced mine. Over time the sun takes a toll on the plastic - especially in my part of the country. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace around $5 or so a pair. I've never seen metal ones although someone might make them. Seems like they would be prone to rust.

Mine is a 2009 too, so maybe that's about the lifespan of those clips. I doubt if this has ever been kept under cover. It has a label that says it was bought in Wyoming so it might have been kept there for the first few years. In my dreams, Wyoming is not the summer oven that Texas is, so it may not be heat as much as just aging and oxidation.

Where did you get your replacements? I found some on Amazon, but it was for a package of 20 I think. At most I'll only need 4.

I got mine at camping world. There's probably cheaper places online, but there's a store right across the street from where I work so the convenience factor makes up for the slight price difference. Plus if you're a good sam club member you get a 10% discount.

A friend just showed me his 2006 Airstream motor home. It has metal baggage door catches You might try an Airstream dealer.
I found stainless baggage door catches at Shoprvparts.

I use the plastic catches inside for coat, towel and misc. hooks. Never broke one so the plastic ones suit me.

The clips on my 2009 went as well. The news one have a different pattern for screwing them on. Does one just drill new holes and use putty tape behind it?

The ones I bought were slightly off as well. Rather than put new holes in the trailer I enlarged the ones in the clip a bit. I used butyl caulk around the screw holes to seal it.
