Default Screw that attach fresh water sensor wires to tank

Are they suppose to be tight against the tank? I can move the wire and end screw loop piece on mine easily. I was hesitant to take a phillips screw driver and snug them up for fear the tank would then leak. The guage works but is a bit erratic at times could this be why?

Default Mine are tight, but . . .

The screws on my tanks are tight. But the sensors are still unreliable -- I am told that this is typical on almost all RV tanks. I am not sure why the industry can't get this right.

they should be firmly in place. I have removed them and added a little lock tight (blue) and that will keep the road vibration from working them out. Also spray a little electrical sealer this will keep them from corroding and giving bad readings
