Default The Roaring Monster

We recently purchased a new Fun Finder x244RBS. We like the looks inside and out, and we really like the floor plan. What we could not stand was the noise level from the AC unit, about the same level of my leaf blower. The noise is from the turbulence created by all of the stuff in the supply and return plenums. Stuff like the excess wiring and a 2x4 electrical box mounted in the middle of the return plenum. I decided to see if I could quit this roaring monster down a touch. I removed the plastic cover and metal retainer frame from the ceiling taking care not the disturbed the roof sealing donut gasket. I sealed the inside perimeter between the ceiling and the roof with 2" aluminum foil tape to stop air leaks . I moved the wiring out of the air pathway, zip tying excess wiring together. I moved the 2x4 box to the bottom of the evaporator drip pan securing it with double sided mounting tape. Then used armaflex insulating tape on everything (except the 2x4 box) to help cut air turbulence and stop air flow between the return and supply side of the plenums. The good news is it worked, cutting noise level by a 3rd or more.

This has always been a hot topic. In our 189 I downsized the a/c to 7700btus, still was the same, vibration, droning, fan noise. In the end, we used a small 5000 btu window unit.

Now in the230DS same issue. I was thinking about installing cabinet unit like the old Trailmanors had, those worked great but I would have to cut a hole in the side of the unit.

Do you belong to the Yahoo Shadow Cruiser site? They would really appreciate your info.

On edit, pictures would really be great.
