Default Tires

I'm at 10 years now on my trailer. About 3 years ago one of the original Duro tires was damaged. I had a tire store put on a trailmaster because that's all they had. Big mistake, the tread already separated I could see the steel belt pushing through. We camp locally so not a lot of miles and I keep them covered. The original Duro's still looked great but I replaced everything with Goodyears since they are 10 years old now. Stay away from the cheap tires.

I will probably replace my camper tires next year.

Am considering Maxxis tires.

I am running the new Goodyear Endurance tires -- they seem great, after about 12,000 miles so far. Higher speed and load rating than the Marathon.

Not to worry, Eagle -- they have recently improved their hiring practices! (Just kidding!!)

No, seriously, the Endurance is made in the USA, unlike the Marathons. It runs at a higher PSI and (according to their website) is engineered for tough conditions. They are not cheap, though.

Actually, haven't visited a Goodyear store in years but knew a few that worked in them and question their hiring practices. LOL

Back in the day, I ran Goodyear Polyglas tires, great tires that wore like iron and took tons of abuse. Don't recall speed rating but never failed in excess of 100/135 MPH+ on long runs. Crazy times then!

Except usually about 1/2 tread, they would suffer a broken belt and require return for adjustment & a new tire. Lucky me, knowing the right folks always got me a 'nice discount' reg. customers didn't get.

Of course, all this was before radial tires were available. I'm confident mfg. methods and materials have greatly improved.

I'm camping this weekend so I pretty much only had 3 choices at America's tire. trailmaster, Carlisle or Goodyear. I picked the Carlisle because they were less expensive but while I was waiting I decided to tell the guy to switch to Goodyear. When I got up to the counter the guy in the back said "you have to stop selling that Carlisle crap" so I asked "are those bad tires?" And he said " I'll upgrade you at no cost". So I got Goodyears and a Carlisle price. Win for me ☺️
