tires

I have an unused 2010 FDS that we bought in november. It has some kind of cheap tires on it (can't remember the brand off hand) like super-trail or something. Anyone have problems with the stock tires? I could invest in 4 new maxxis tires, but it may not be necessary. Any feedback appreciated.

I would think that as long as the tires are trailer tires and not more than 6 years or so old you are probably fine. And of course properly inflated.

Ditto on what LJAZ said. I'm still running the stock "junk" radial tires that everybody talks about; "Duro" radials

28,000 miles and still look new.

Keep them aired properly, don't overload and keep the speed down and you should be fine. Run them low on air, overloaded and at 70 mph and you can expect almost any radial trailer tire to self-destruct in short order and bias plies just as quick.

Thanks. They're "Road Rider ST" tires. I generally tow at 55-60mph and keep the pressures at max (50psi cold, in this case) The actual empty (with battery and propane, but no water or equipment) axle weight was 3036lbs. That's for two axels with C rated tires so each tire should only be about half it's rated weight. I'm sure we'll load things up a bit but shouldn't get to more than about 3/4s loaded. I'll try them out.
